Trama Afetiva: social and regenerative design

Trama Afetiva was not created simply to make clothes. It was created to challenge the prevailing logic of fashion and propose new relationships between materials, people, work, and consumption.

Conceived by Jackson Araujo and Luca Predabon, Trama Afetiva is a Brazilian third-sector platform dedicated to social and regenerative design. Its work connects fashion, education, and sustainability with initiatives that promote productive inclusion, income generation, and the recognition of regional knowledge and traditions.

Transforming Materials and Relationships

Trama Afetiva creates clothing and accessories by upcycling nylon recovered from discarded umbrellas, urban textile waste, and vintage T-shirts.

Recovered by cooperatives before being sent to landfills, the umbrellas are dismantled, washed, and sanitized. The Trama Afetiva team then selects, combines, and cuts the fabrics, preparing every component before it is sent for sewing.

This process brings together waste collectors, cooperatives, drivers, sanitation professionals, seamstresses, artisans, designers, and other collaborators. Each person plays an essential role in bringing the pieces to life.

One-of-a-Kind Pieces

The colors, prints, textures, and dimensions of the materials vary. For this reason, there is no mass production: each piece is created from a unique combination.

The Loja da Trama Afetiva online store is the commercial arm of the platform, offering clothing and other accessories. It also accepts requests to customize pre-owned garments and develops upcycled corporate gifts, including projects made with materials supplied by the companies themselves.

Knowledge and Affective Economy

Trama Afetiva’s work extends beyond creating products. The platform organizes workshops, courses, exhibitions, talks, roundtable discussions, and educational projects that bring together professionals, students, artists, artisans, companies, and communities.

Affective Economy is based on the principle that people and the planet are non-negotiable assets. This perspective guides a diverse, inclusive, collaborative, and environmentally responsible approach to fashion that recognizes the work and knowledge of everyone involved.

Wearing a Trama Afetiva piece means choosing a one-of-a-kind creation and becoming part of a network built on circularity, collaboration, and care.
